On the exploitation of seismic resonances for cavity detection
نویسنده
چکیده
We study the interaction of a seismic wave-field with a spherical acoustic gasor fluid-filled cavity. The intention of this study is to clarify whether seismic resonances can be expected, a characteristic feature, which may help detecting cavities in the subsurface. This is important for many applications, as in particular the detection of underground nuclear explosions which are to be prohibited by the Comprehensive-Test-Ban-Treaty (CTBT).

متن کاملFaults and fractures detection in 2D seismic data based on principal component analysis
Various approached have been introduced to extract as much as information form seismic image for any specific reservoir or geological study. Modeling of faults and fractures are among the most attracted objects for interpretation in geological study on seismic images that several strategies have been presented for this specific purpose. In this study, we have presented a modified approach of ap...
متن کاملAn Investigation of the Seismic Interaction of Surface Foundations and Underground Cavities Using Finite Element Method
In this study, the seismic interaction of surface foundations and underground cavities was investigated. For this purpose, a parametric study of geometric dimensions of the foundation and cavity, their location, and the effect of the interaction between surface foundations and underground cavities was evaluated. The variable parameters include the ratio of the overburden height to the foundatio...
متن کاملFisher Discriminant Analysis (FDA), a supervised feature reduction method in seismic object detection
Automatic processes on seismic data using pattern recognition is one of the interesting fields in geophysical data interpretation. One part is the seismic object detection using different supervised classification methods that finally has an output as a probability cube. Object detection process starts with generating a pickset of two classes labeled as object and non-object and then selecting ...
متن کاملCoupledC avity Distributed-Resonance Photodetectors
A new type of resonant enhanced photodetectors based on the one dimensional photonic bandgap is proposed. It can potentially overcome problems encountered in resonant-cavity-enhanced photodetectors. Resonating structures with very high quality factors and large free spectral ranges can be obtained by varying the optical parameters of the grating overlay without the presence of rigid design cons...
